Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Weather Systems
Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the region, producing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the region, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, over 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both areas.

Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
