Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

An Interstellar Journey Based on Iconic Releases

In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
